Many years ago, Echebastar made a conscious decision to transform its processes in order to obtain the environmental sustainability certification, thus demonstrating that industrial fishing and sustainability may be compatible.
This documentary explains in a transparent manner what we did to achieve this and meet the rigorous requirements set by the sustainability NGO, the Marine Stewardship Council.
It took years to meet all the assessment criteria and reach the ‘global standards of good practice’ set by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO). But we kept going without a doubt in our minds.
And the story does not end with the achievement of the certification, as the continuous implementation of improvements to ensure that we continue to meet best practice, is necessary to maintain our sustainable status.
Not committing to sustainability is an option that neither the planet, nor the future of our company and the sector can afford. The future always begins today.
