Echebastar expands its MSC certification to Indian Ocean yellowfin tuna: more than 90% of our production now has the blue seal of sustainable fishing.
At Echebastar, we are taking another step forward in our commitment to sustainability. The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification we held for skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis) in the Indian Ocean has been officially extended to also include yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares).
This expansion comes after the annual follow-up audit process for the “ANABAC Indian Ocean purse seine skipjack fishery” certification, in which the ANABAC association fleet, of which Echebastar is a member, has demonstrated exemplary progress, successfully meeting all the conditions set out in the initial assessment. This achievement reflects the constant effort and shared responsibility between our crews, our companies and our fishermen.

Thanks to this progress, more than 90% of Echebastar’s total tropical tuna production is now MSC certified, reaffirming our commitment to responsible, transparent and sustainable fishing.
This recognition is an incentive to continue working every day to protect the oceans and continuously improve our fishing practices, ensuring a more sustainable future for the sector and for the planet.
